Intern - Assembly - (HI11250)

Hawker Pacific Aerospace, Sun Valley, CA is seeking an Intern - Assembly to support its Assembly Department during a six (6) month internship program. During the internship the selected applicant will work with the Assembly Manager, Assembly Lead, and Assembly Technicians to develop Assembly Maintenance Instructions and Records Cards, (MIRC). Applicant will review the Assembly processes and work flow in order to find/develop efficiency improvements. Applicant will also participate in Assembly Team Meetings and support and assist in the implementation of new ideas/Kaizen cards.
Project Description: The scope of the project is to develop and implement Assembly Maintenance Instruction and Records Cards (MIRC) which will standardize the overall Assembly process. The MIRC's will assist in providing better training to less experiences Technicians, reducing damage to landing gear parts, and incorporating some of the "Tribal Knowledge" into HPA's normal process. They will also assist in the recording the Serial Numbers of Torque Wrenches and any other Calibrated/Precision tool used in the assembly process.
Project Goals:
1. Describe in detail assembly procedures for all aircraft landing gears processed at HPA
a. This phase of the project will focus on the B757 Fleet
2. Clearly state which tools will be required for task being perform and direct technician to tooling data base
3. Add transparency and accountability to the Assembly process
4. Reduce damage to caused parts due to use of incorrect tooling or lack of knowledge
5. Efficiency improvement of 5%
6. Develop Standard Hours for the units covered by the MIRCs
Project Skills: The intern will be trained in basic lean manufacturing skills and landing gear Assembly process.
Qualifications: Selected applicant must be an undergraduate college student enrolled in an accredited college or university and have an overall grade point average (GPA) 2.0 or higher.

Good Computer Skills (Excel / PowerPoint / etc.)
Good Communication skills, verbal and written
Strong Research skills, to source necessary information to provide report of finding, and proposed ideas
Ability to perform statistical analysis
Ability to prioritize and work under pressure

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
